A pick-up truck went over an embankment Friday morning, trapping the driver and a passenger inside the cab for nearly 45 minutes in frigid temperatures.

The accident took place on Pennsylvania Avenue between 10th and 11th streets. Two power lines were knocked down in the process.

Electricity was shut off to several nearby buildings as responders moved the downed utility poles in order to get the driver and passenger out of the vehicle.

Power company crews worked to clean up Pennsylvania Avenue and repair power lines Friday afternoon.

Only minor injuries were reported, according to emergency responders on scene. Both individuals involved walked back up the hill themselves once they were freed, according to Capt. Bob Hinchee of the Weirton Fire Department.

Power was restored later in the day.
