Sex Offender Charged in Another Rape

January 3, 2014
By FRED CONNORS Senior Staff Writer , The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

Henry William McEndree, charged with the Dec. 28 rape of a 52-year-old woman, may be facing additional charges related to his status as a sex offender.

Belmont County Sheriff's Department deputies and a Bridgeport Police Department unit responded to a 911 call placed by the victim from a home in the Presidential Estates Mobile Home Park adjacent to Bridgeport High School.

Detective Ryan Allar said the investigation has revealed that McEndree had been living in the home for an unknown amount of time, violating the sex offender registry restrictions because of the home's proximity to the school.

"He was living there with his girlfriend," Allar said. "And that is not his registered address."

He said the victim was visiting the home McEndree shared with his girlfriend when the alleged rape occurred.

At the time of the alleged rape McEndree, a registered sex offender, was out on parole for a previous sex crime conviction. In 1991, he was convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl, for which he spent 17 years in prison. He was released on parole while serving that sentence, and then sent back to prison for three more years for a parole violation. He was paroled again March of 2012.

Allar said Detective Andrea Gatti took over the investigation after the initial response by deputies and Bridgeport police. He said additional charges may come after a review of the case by Belmont County Prosecutor Dan Fry.
