PINTO, John M., 93, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, in Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital.
He was born December 20, 1919, in Wheeling, a son of the late Michael and Lena Scholastice Pinto.
John was a 1937 graduate of Triadelphia High School and a former Sales Engineer for Famous Manufacturing.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, Knights of Columbus, Carroll Council 504, Wheeling Elks Lodge 28, a Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Virginia Amick Pinto in 2008, and his sister, Esther Sonnefeld.
Surviving are his four children, Tom Pinto and his wife, Susan of Morgantown, WV; Barbara Maurer and her husband, Tony of Madbury, NH; Greg Pinto and his wife, Colleen of Springfield, IL; Jim Pinto and his wife, Susan of St. John, FL; a sister, Marie Pinto of Wheeling, one brother, Raymond Pinto of Wheeling; six grandchildren, Amy, Kate and Andrew Maurer of Madbury, NH; Jordan and Max Pinto of Morgantown, WV; Jake Pinto of St. John, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Les Cline of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Jeremiah McSweeney as celebrant.
Interment with military honors in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
