Lee Danford

DANFORD, Lee, 88, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013, after a brief illness.

He was born February 27, 1925, a son of the late Presley Danford and Ruth Nickerson Danford Bauer.

Lee graduated from Tridelphia High School and was drafted into the U.S. Navy, stationed in Guam, serving as Post Master in WWII from 1943-1946.

December 16, 1972, Lee married the love of his life Peg Chittester.

After 32 years, Lee retired as general manager for Wheeling Linen Services. He enjoyed playing and watching golf and was an avid Mountaineer fan.

In addition to his parents Lee was preceded in death by a son, Michael Danford; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Myrt Chittester.

Lee is survived by his loving wife, Peg Danford; son, Jaye Danford, Anaheim, CA; two grandsons, Tony (Jennifer) Danford, West Plains, MO and Larry (Katie) Larimer, Killdeer, ND; five great- grandchildren; a sister, Norma Mormanis, Wheeling, WV; a brother-in-law, Jack (Tracy) Chittester; a niece, Jill (Markie) Reitter; a nephew, Jordan Chittester; and a great-niece, Reese Reitter, all of Belmont, OH; and Tabby (Lee's wonderful cat).

Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, St. Clairsville, OH, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with Rev. Alfred Hoder officiating.

Entombment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont County Animal Shelter.
