DOBBS, Beryl, 84, of Moundsville, W.Va., and formerly of Fish Creek, passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, in Wheeling Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born on Nauvoo Ridge, W.Va., on Feb. 15, 1929, a son of the late George and Dessie (Blake) Dobbs, and his grandmother, Amanda Blake, with whom he lived during his childhood.
He retired from Ormet in 1984, and then worked as a Wheeling Park ranger for 10 years.
He enjoyed metal coin detecting, playing cards and checkers, and playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Carlton Dobbs, and two sisters, Josephine Garrison and Maxine Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys Eileen Dobbs; two children, Dwayne Dobbs of Moundsville, and Donna (Larry) Conkle of Bowman's Ridge; four grandchildren, Greg (Melinda) Dobbs, Sherry (Floyd) Norris of Moundsville, Larry Conkle Jr. and Cassie (J.R.) Downes of Bowman's Ridge; nine great grandchildren, Byron (Doris) Dobbs, and Sherill (Ella) Dobbs; six sisters, Janice Kuhn, Patty Smithson, Betty Lou noble, Susie Peters and Barbara Gorby; a special nephew, Danny (Julie) Dobbs; and ex-daughter-in-law, Becky Hill.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 from 5-9 p.m. at the CARE Funeral Home, 1500 Second St., Moundsville, W.Va., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. with The Rev. Scott Haynes and The Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery.
