BAKER, Paul M., 78, of Easton, MD, formerly of Cockeysville, died surrounded by his loving family at Genesis Health Care- The Pines, Easton, MD, on Saturday, October 12, 2013, from complications of Parkinson's disease.
Paul M. Baker was the son of the late Paul and Mary Baker. Paul was raised in Irvington/ Catonsville, Maryland and went to Mount St. Joseph High School graduating in 1954. He continued his education at the Washington College graduating in 1960. He met his true love Connie (nee Peddicord) 49 years ago and together they had a great life and family. Paul started coaching the St. Joseph Monastery eighth-grade team in 1952 and then Towson Catholic High School from 1960 to 1966. Paul worked as an Athletic Director and Basketball Coach for the University of Baltimore from 1966 to 1970 and Wheeling College (now Wheeling Jesuit University) from 1970 to 1979. After his college coaching career he scouted for the NBA's Washington Wizards for 6 years. To this day his former players stayed in touch with him.
Paul will be remembered in the Towson Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame, the University of Baltimore Hall of Fame and the Wheeling College (now Wheeling Jesuit University) Athletic Hall of Fame.
Mr. Baker is survived by his loving wife Connie Baker; his beloved children Stephen Baker and his wife Lucy, Gregory and Nicholas Baker; dear brother of Jeannette Rembach; cherished grandfather of Austin, Tyler, Jacob, Jacqlyn and Lucas Baker.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Joseph Church, 101 Church Lane, on Thursday, October 17 at 10 a.m.
