PARKER, John A., 64, of Moundsville, WV, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Wheeling Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Wheeling, WV, on July 7, 1949, son of the late James A. and Sarah E. (Finnegan) Parker.
John was a retired employee of Verizon Phone Co., and Tractor Supply Co. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and attended First Christian Church, Moundsville, WV. John was a member of Knights of Pythias Little Prince Lodge No. 79, having the distinct honor of being past Chancellor Commander and current Grand Prelate for the State of WV, Marshall Union No. 8 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Wheeling, WV, Barton Vol. Fire Dept, Barton OH and Roughnecks MC Club, Marshall County, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James H. Parker, niece and Godchild MaryBeth (Vidonic) Margaret, in-laws James R. and Shelly (Edna May Baker) Hunter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jacqueline (Jackie Hunter) Parker, daughters Cara L. (Jeff) Gazdik, Erin D. Magers, grandsons Alex Hunter Gazdik and Andrew Paul Gazdik, all of Ohio, sisters Rita (Nicholas) Vidonic of Midlothian, VA, Sally Gast, Glen Dale, WV, several nieces and nephews as well as many beloved friends .
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV. Memorial services will be held Tuesday by Knights of Pythias at 6:30 p.m. and Barton Vol. Fire Dept. at 7:30 p.m. Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by funeral services at the funeral home by Pastors Wesley Howsare, Earl Shaw, and Phil Auten of First Christian Church, Moundsville, WV. Graveside services by Marshall Union Lodge No. 8 at the convenience of the family.
