A 16-year-old Steubenville boy accused of shooting two people to death is set for a probable cause hearing at 11 a.m. Feb. 20 before Jefferson County Juvenile Judge Sam Kerr.
The juvenile had his initial appearance before Kerr on Wednesday. He is charged with two counts of murder, with firearm specifications.
City police were called around 9:30 p.m. Jan. 30 to the Heritage Place Apartments on Market Street after receiving reports that shots had been fired. Ryan Toson, 21, and Otavius Wilson, 19, both of Steubenville, were taken to Trinity Medical Center West with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Kerr said the boy will be automatically bound over to adult court if probable cause is found at the Feb. 20 hearing. The juvenile faces 15 years to life on each of the murder charges, plus three years on the gun specifications, if the case is bound over to adult court.
Attorney David Vukelic was appointed to represent the boy.
