Police Looking For Missing Girl

POSTED: January 6, 2010

NEW MARTINSVILLE - Police are searching for a New Martinsville girl who was last seen on New Year's Day.

Casey Lasure, 16, of New Martinsville has been missing since late Friday night or very early Saturday morning.

She is assumed to have run away from her home on Doolin Run in the middle of the night on Jan. 2.

The Wetzel County Sheriff's Department has named Chris Smith, 20, of the Shadyside area as a person of interest in the case.

Wetzel County Sheriff James Hoskins said multiple resources have been tapped in the search.

"We're talking to other individuals as well," Hoskins said. "Officers from the West Virginia State Police and the New Martinsville and Paden City police departments are all assisting in the search.''

Lasure is a white female, 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown, shoulder-length hair.

She is a sophomore at Magnolia High School.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Wetzel County Sheriff's Department at 304-455-2430.

I'm pretty sure they gave HER race because SHE is the one who is missing.

For the record, she has now been found and is home safe.

They give us the race of the white girl. Does that mean her boyfriend is a black male?

Brookie-I have always called it the Horizontal Mambo but you say TOE-MAY-TOE, I say TOE MOTTO!

I think it's fascinating that the editors have decided to expunge all comments, both good and bad, related to David McKinley's headline story.

Most likely. But when it's your kid, your heart races with terror not knowing your child is ok. Sometimes when your young & in love you don't think past the moment & what your actions can do to your family.Unfortunately the girl is 16 & her BF is 20, in the laws eyes, he's in some trouble. Just a quick phone call telling her parents she's ok would at least lessen their anxiety.

Ok, she ran away with her boyfriend. It happens. I'm sure when they find this young man, they'll find the girl, all snuggled in for the winter.
