Revoke Illegal Registrations
The IntelligencerMore than 47,000 letters went out from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles during October, notifying some people that there are problems with their vehicle registrations. Specifically, documentation on registration forms did not include proof of valid residency in Ohio.
The letters are not evidence of a bureaucratic error - but of a major scheme aimed at helping illegal immigrants obtain vehicle registrations. They were able to do that through a loophole in regulations that was closed this summer.
Investigators have determined that many illegal immigrants used the loophole to obtain registrations fraudulently. Now the state is attempting to locate them and revoke their registrations.
As you might expect, the action has provoked an outcry from the illegal immigrant community. It's just not fair, some of them are claiming.
Yes, it is fair. Those receiving the letters have until Dec. 9 to prove that they reside legally in Ohio. They can do that by providing certain documents. The vast majority of the 47,000 people involved probably will have no trouble doing that. But those who cannot will have their registrations revoked - and will be more at risk of being pulled over while driving, by police checking for traffic law infractions. Such stops regularly net illegal immigrants, who then are at risk of being deported.
What is unfair about that?
By definition, those who do not qualify to have their vehicles registered in Ohio broke the law by engaging in fraud to obtain the documents. If anything, forcing them to comply with the same laws that bind other Ohioans ought to be applauded by most residents of the state.

AZVIAOV: Your statements read a lot like Ellis's so I am concluding you are him, or just as stupid. You either follow the letter of the law or you do not, no halfway inbetween points, hence, if they are here unlawfully, obtained thier license unlaffuly, & & have absolutely no intention of reversing the trend they are on, technnically they are crimminals any way you wish to cut it. What? They came here unlawfully so should be expemt from all the laws that we have to abide by? I seriously think not.

This editorial is so absolutely right it should not even need to be written. Conservative papers may just save this country. Another obvious and conservatively right editorial from this paper prompted the FAA to quickly revoke the licenses of the two inept NorthWest pilots who couldn't tell a hawk from a handsaw from any wind direction.

The issue isnt mexicans, its white trash driving beaters, registered in Ohio and then living in west Virginia. In ohio you just "sign" that you have insurance, and taxed once on your vehicle. In WV you have to have PROOF of insurance and ARE TAXED ON VEHICLE VALUE EVERY YEAR.

What is the arguement here? every single alien "BROKE THE LAW!" Our Government, past & present, Republican & Democrat, have allowed the invasion of 20 to 30 million criminals and uneducated peons which is the largest invasion of any Nation, at any time, by any means & in direct violation of Article IV, Section IV of our Constitution. Many people that LIVE in WV have vehicles registered by the state of Ohio, politicians have made token attempts to combat the "illegal" practice. WV tax collectors don't get the property tax from the vehicles...the owners also get a break on insurance.

All illegal immigrants should be rounded up and deported. They broke the law and they refused to respect our national borders. They are a danger to national security. They bring new diseases. They steal your jobs. They take hundreds of billions of tax dollars in education, health care and criminal justice funds. They earn billions in cash and send it back to their home country. We need to arrest all illegals on the spot. If a business is employing them, it should be a $250,000 fine-PER WORKR-to be paid within 10 days-NO APPEAL. A second offense should be $500,000 per worker. A third offense and the owner should go to jail. We need a ZERO TOLERANCE on immigration!Corporate America wants illegals because they drive down wage rates. Democrat politicians want them because 20 million illegals guarantees a long-time majority for the Dems. If pols don't want to live up to their oaths, kick them out and put them in jail!
