Former EMS Members Plead Guilty in Case
The former treasurer and vice president of the Cameron Emergency Squad will have no further involvement with emergency organizations after pleading guilty to embezzlement.
In Marshall County Circuit Court on Thursday, Kenneth Riggs entered the plea to one felony count of embezzlement. As part of a plea agreement, Judge Mark A. Karl sentenced Riggs to one to 10 years in prison. However, Riggs will serve one year alternatively in home incarceration, and, upon successful completion of that, the balance of the sentence will be suspended. Riggs then will serve one year of supervised probation.
In addition, Karl ordered Riggs to have no involvement with any emergency association in West Virginia. He also must pay restitution.
Marshall County Prosecutor Jeff Cramer presented Riggs' case for indictment in March after an investigation revealed he stole more than $1,000 from the squad's funds between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, 2008.

I knew Kenny many years ago. He is a very kind person and did a lot for Cameron EMS and Fire Dept. It's a shame he got caught up in something like this. Keep your head up Kenny and don't mind the gossip that goes around Cameron.

What is sad about this whole case is ... the president that is in there now along with who use to be treasure and is now deceased had been doing this for some time.. this member was put into that office and the books were not fixed from the mess of Bethann Howard and Wayne Chambers, but they knew that they could put him in there and he would have no idea and take the fall. and so that is what took place...trust me I know this for sure.. its ashame that the two who were in charge before didn't get caught.. because Cameron EMS has went down hill and has been drug through the mud due to the behavior of its old members who pick and choose their calls!!!

So first we have Marshall County volunteer firefighters setting fires and committing arson, and now we have a VP of an E-squad embezzling funds. Sad.
