Ghosts and goblins are inhabiting the "Haunted Hills" of Grand Vue Park in Moundsville, where a second round of terrifying tours were offered Thursday.
The event will continue from 7-11 p.m. today and Saturday, as well as Oct. 29-31.
Weather conditions Thursday were better than during the initial week of the event; as a result, more people were was expected to participate.
"Last week was a good test for us," said Craig White, Grand Vue general manager. "We were able to work out a few things."
White also said he is grateful to Moundsville Fire Chief Noel Clarke, who has agreed to work in the barn area of the park during activities there in order to meet state fire marshal requirements.
"We had a lot of help from city and county officials," White said.
Activities include a haunted barn, haunted hike and haunted hayride. White noted all three activities are included in the price of admission; none of the activities can be done individually. He also said it takes almost an hour to complete the three segments.
Groups of about 10 are taken through the park's offerings. A campfire area, next to the barn, offers the opportunity to cook hotdogs and marshmallows over an open flame.
According to White, those entering the park should follow signs to "Zone 1" to participate in the haunted hills activities. He suggests parking in the lower parking lot and walking up to the barn and old miniature golf building for a ticket. A less scary "Zone 2" is also available for younger children at the new miniature golf course. It includes pumpkin painting and treats for a reduced cost.
