Monroe Voters to Mull 911 Charge

WOODSFIELD — Monroe County voters will decide whether they wish to pay an additional charge for 911 services and an income tax to benefit schools when they go to the polls Nov. 6.
The Switzerland of Ohio School District has put on the general election ballot a request for a proposed 1 percent annual income tax for the next five years. Resulting revenue would be used to cover current expenses in the district.
Monroe County commissioners, meanwhile, will ask voters to approve a proposed 50-cent per telephone assessment to pay for costs associated with an enhanced 911 system.
Voters in specific townships and villages also will see the following levies on their ballots.
? Lee Township — (additional) 0.5 mill for five years for maintaining and operating cemeteries.
? Lee Township — (additional) 0.5 mill for five years for current operating expenses.
? Washington Township — (replacement) 2.5 mills for five years for road maintenance including dust control.
? Antioch Village — (renewal) 6 mills for five years for current operating expenses.
? Beallsville Village — (replacement) 5 mills for five years for current operating expenses.
? Graysville Village — (replacement) 2 mills for five years for current operating expenses.
? Jerusalem Village — (replacement) 5 mills for five years for current operating expenses.
? Lewisville Village — (renewal) 3 mills for five years for current operating expenses.
These Monroe County communities also will see contested races for elected office in the general election.
? Bethel Township Trustee (two to be elected): Roger Morrison, Mike Marshall and Roger Kuhn.
? Center Township Trustee (two to be elected): Drew Dimmerling, Matt Longwell, David Shreve and Mark Hudson.
? Center Township Fiscal Officer: Cheryl Keylor, Tammy L. Jones and J.D. Wiley.
? Green Township Trustee (full term): Jon Draft and Frankie McCaslin.
? Green Township Trustee (unexpired term, two to be elected): Lawrence Rutter, Rick Alleman and Dwayne Thompson.
? Lee Township Trustee (unexpired term, two to be elected): Patrick Martie, Dave Caywood, Brad Boggs and Terry Beegle.
? Lee Township Fiscal Officer: Kevin Winkler and Kathy Williams.
? Malaga Township Fiscal Officer: Beverly Beardmore Grubb and Robin Christman.
? Perry Township Trustee (two to be elected): Robert Price, Michael Brown and Glen Schwaben.
? Perry Township Fiscal Officer: Tanis Langsdorf, Theresa Clutter and Kelly Meredith.
? Seneca Township Fiscal Officer: Vicki English and Amy Carpenter.
? Summit Township Trustee (two to be elected): Luther Junior Merckle, Thomas Piatt, Larry Schaub and Jimmy Stimpert.
? Washington Township Trustee (two to be elected): Kevin E. Howell, Randy Williams and Paul McKnight.
