Couple Faces Charges for Party

By GABE WELLS
POSTED: May 30, 2009

An Ohio County couple accused of hosting an underage drinking party discovered by a sheriff's deputy are now facing charges.

Ohio County Sheriff Pat Butler announced Friday that George and Lisa Theiroff of Fairfield Drive, Wheeling each face one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and and once count of providing beer to a minor. The party near Oglebay was uncovered at about 4 a.m. May 17 after a party-goer's parent inadvertently prompted an Ohio County deputy to the home, according to Chief Deputy Drage Flick. The charges against the Theiroffs were done via a summons, and their Ohio County Magistrate Court date has not been set.

Since that time, the investigation has resulted in three citations against drinkers who were younger than 21 years, but older than 18.

Their names have not been released by the Ohio County Sheriff's Department. Juvenile petitions were filed against six people under the age of 18, according to information from the Ohio County Sheriff's Department.

Ohio County Deputy Rod Vaught reportedly discovered the party at the Theiroff home. According to Flick, Vaught was sitting in a cruiser on W.Va. 88 early that morning when a vehicle pulled up to him and asked for directions to the party. Flick said the deputy led the occupants of the vehicle to the residence in question.

The Theiroffs reportedly were asleep when Vaught arrived at the home. Flick said the deputy's arrival sent juveniles fleeing. On Friday, Butler declined to comment on the investigation.

mom2four, wow, you really think that being interviewed numerous times by law enforcement, dealing with their respective parents, oh and um . . . BURYING THEIR FRIEND! was getting off scott free. According to you they should have had juvenile status offense petitions filed and been sentenced to service plans from the DHHR, boy that would have showed 'em.

So, all these kids were making a mistake? Together, at 4am? Did the parents make a mistake by falling asleep too? Wow! Talk about Murphy's Law! All I said was, if it had happened in Marshall County, nothing would have been said or done about it.

Glass houses, mom, glass houses. If you have four kids sooner or later one of them is going to make a mistake.
