Newspapers Launch New Online Jobs Site
POSTED: June 4, 2008
WHEELING — Hey, graduate, looking for a job, but not sure if your career option is available in the local area? Or are you presently employed but looking for new scenery — or a new career?
Then log on to The Intelligencer’s new employment Web site, jobs.theintelligencer.net, where you can search jobs not only in the Upper Ohio Valley, but throughout the region and the nation.
The Web site launched today and provides area residents looking for jobs more resources while also offering potential employers a new way to find qualified workers.
Jobs.theintelligencer.net features the ability to search current job openings in the local area along with regional and national job openings of interest. The Intelligencer has partnered with other newspapers in the region to create the most locally centered job site available anywhere on the Web.
Other newspapers joining with The Intelligencer are the Wheeling News-Register; the Weirton Daily Times; the Herald-Star of Steubenville; The Times Leader; The Parkersburg News; The Parkersburg Sentinel; the Marietta Times; the Martinsburg Journal; and the Inter-Mountain of Elkins. Job seekers have the option of expanding or contracting their search to any distance they wish.
Setting up an account on the site is free and easy. Once a job seeker sets up an account he or she can establish their profile, which allows them to upload resumes and cover letters to the site and apply for jobs immediately with one click.
The site also allows job seekers to sign up for e-mail alerts that will notify them when new jobs are posted that match their profile. They also can save jobs that interest them and view the jobs they have applied for over the past 18 months.
Profiles of businesses also are available on jobs.theintelligencer.net. Every time a business has an open position, it will be listed with their profile.
The wide exposure offered by the regional newspaper group gives employers access to a huge pool of potential employees and offers job seekers a wide range of available job opportunities.
“Jobs.theintelligencer.net is about creating a richer and more fulfilling experience for both our employment advertisers and our readers,” said Perry Nardo, general manager of The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register. “We are combining our powerful print product with a new and exciting online product that will allow job seekers and employers more efficiency in making a crucial connection.”
Jobs.theintelligencer.net is part of an ongoing effort by The Intelligencer to serve readers in the Upper Ohio Valley — and beyond.

EZ: It is time to look at the huge investment made in Downtown to see if it is working.Perhaps those in charge need replaced. What's good is what works. Failure should not be rewarded.

Make sure the dozens of new high paid jobs in the new TIF "development" downtown and the "sucessful" Stones project are included. There should be at least 200-300 per Mr. Herron et al. And do not forget the soon - to - be -booming music industry that is being created by WNHAC downtown. This follows the success of their "Victorian Mall" and the "Artisan Center." These, ofcourse, already employ hundreds - as promised & delivered. Success should be rewarded.Get another 8 million to these organizers by any means & at once! They get results.
