Ex-Mountaineer will be Seahawks' long snapper
RENTON, Wash. (AP) _ Former West Virginia long snapper Tim Lindsey has apparently won a job with the Seattle Seahawks after the team placed Tyler Schmitt on the season-ending injured reserve list.
The Seahawks drafted Schmitt in April but he missed most of training camp with a sore back.
Lindsey cut short his honeymoon two weeks ago after being signed by the Seahawks. Lindsey played at West Virginia in 2005 and 2006 while his bride was a gymnast there. He spent less than a month on Atlanta's roster in the spring of 2007 as an undrafted free agent.
Lindsey should be the Seahawks' long snapper to begin the season unless they sign a veteran between now and the opener Sept. 7 at Buffalo.
