Teens React to Cinema At The Highlands

Finally, teens can choose where they want to go see a movie. Before the Marquee Cinemas opened at The Highlands, the nearest cinema was at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville. It seems that teens like the new Marquee Cinema a lot. One of the reasons teens said they prefer it is because of its location. Erik Gompers and Aaron Kahle, both freshmen at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, said they would return to the Marquee Cinema because it is closer, for them, than the Carmike Cinema, at the mall. When asked how the Marquee Cinema compares to other theatres, Josh Garrett, a freshman at at Wheeling Park High School, said, “I think it’s a lot nicer than most theatres. Also, it has really comfy seats.” The 14 screen theater seats 2,500 in stadium-style all-leather rocker-recliners. The cinemas also are handicapped accessible. The lobby at Marquee Cinemas is bright and colorful and the ceilings are high and shiny—making the entire area really cool. Kahle said, “The lobby is really neat. It has really high ceilings and it’s just a cool atmosphere.” The cinema offers classic “movie foods” such as popcorn, candy and beverages and some extras like hot pretzels, hot dogs, and Dippin’ Dots ice cream. Right beside the lobby area is an arcade where virtual games such as tennis, skiing and car racing can be played. The cinema even caters to large groups as there are three party rooms and a conference room.
